Prepare yourself for a Spray Tan Session:
Exfoliate & Moisturize your skin before you go for a spray tan
Your skin has a buildup of dead skin cells on top its top layer. The thicker the layer, the sooner your spray tan will rub off. By exfoliating, you remove the dead skin cells and thus leave a clean canvas for a perfect and longer lasting spray tan. It is important to use either an exfoliating glove or products that don’t contain any oils, otherwise the oily barrier can stop the spray tanning solution getting through.Moisturize your skin (with a water based only product) after every bath or shower to increase the life of your tan.
Don’t wear any deodorant or makeup before Spray Tan.
Many deodorants will stop spray tanning solution going through. Some others will turn the armpits green. Few moisturizers and makeup products can act as a barrier, not letting the full amount of the solution to attach itself to the skin. As soon as you’ve had your spray tan you can apply deodorant and make up.
It is recommended to wear loose clothing after your spray session.
Although you wipe off the excess of the spray tanning solution with a towel after your session (booth spray tan), or dry out in front of a fan (airbrush tan), the tan needs to “set”, and the process will take about an three to four hour. It is best to bring clothes and shoes as loose as possible to wear after your spray tanning session, to make sure nothing rubs off.
Wax or Shave your legs before spray tan.
If you need to shave or wax your legs do it definitely before and make sure that you wash your legs after waxing to remove any wax residue. If you shave your legs after spray on tan, you will take off some of your tan during the process.
After Care:
How long do I have to wait after spray tanning session before I can take a shower?
We recommend that you wait at least 4 hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set. If you shower earlier, you may diminish the intensity of the tan. When you do shower, the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create your long-term tan.
Can I go swimming after Spray tan session?
You should not swim or shower for a minimum of 4 hours after spray tan session. Swimming in chlorinated water at any time can bleach the spray tan and possible cause streaking.
Are there ways to enhance the Spray tan results?
Yes. Applying a water-based moisturizer prior to tanning helps the skin absorb the Spray tan solution. Using a moisturizer frequently will help the tan last longer. You should not apply any moisturizers or lotions to the skin after tanning until the DMA has had time to set, usually 4 to 6 hours. Certain types of moisturizers or lotions applied during this period could cause streaking of the DHA.
Remove your Spray Tan
What to use to take the stains off after spray tan.
Sometimes, no matter what you do, you still get darker stains. The way to deal with them is to rub them off with exfoliant. If you use exfoliant on top of exfoliating glove, it seems to do a great job of removing spray tan. If you have done this, and not all has come off, a little bit of lemon juice, liquid bleach or hydrogen peroxide will do the trick.
